Admire my struggles with the guitar
I last tried to play a guitar somewhere around the year 2002. The guitar broke, and life took over for the next couple of decades, but now I’m back baby! Purchased a new guitar on 10 September (that’s how closely I am going to track my progress!) and have been practicing almost daily.
Putting up the first few songs that I recorded here. The hope is that someday I will look back and be amazed by the progress that I have made! No vocals in any of these, since I am still struggling to just get the guitar to make the right sounds. My own voicebox will come later.
Where did you sleep last night by Nirvana (recorded on 15 Sep)
This song is somewhat special. Was one of the first few songs I tried way back in 2002, and hence was an obvious first to try this time as well.
Wonderwall by Oasis (recorded on 15 Sep)
First complicated strumming pattern that I tried. The tempo is a little slow, and you can hear some the chords being messed up.
Horse With No Name by America (recorded on 17 Sep)
Simple song, two chords. Kinda boring to play.
Hey Joe by Jimi Hendrix (recorded on 18 Sep)
Songs by Jimi Hendrix are so difficult to get right.. magical mix of guitar and voice that is tough to replicate.
House of the Rising Sun by The Animals (recorded on 10 Oct)
Took me forever to get the picking pattern right for this.
More Than Words by Extreme (recorded on 15 Oct)
Someday I shall be able to play this correctly all the way through. For now, the changes and the finger picking are a little overwhelming to master together.
